The Grip

God is not some absent minded, disconnected CEO of the universe. He is the Owner and Creator, the HR and accounting department, He is the manager, the secretary, the laborer, and most definitely the janitor. And at the end of the day, for this tireless God it is not a job well done, but a job PERFECTLY done.

37"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. 38"For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39"This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. 40"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day." John 6:37-40

28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one." John 10:28-30

I believe there are moments where the most comforting thing to hear is that we are kept by Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. These times are usually in the midst of a journey into a land our hearts were never meant to venture. In the moment we are reminded by the Holy Spirit that we are His, kept by Him, do we not experience God’s love in such an overwhelming way. God has been so good in the last couple of weeks to gently, but with great authority, remind me that I am His. Perhaps, today we might all need to hear that the One who upholds the universe with His word, has us in His grip, and we are His.
